The time has come to sort your wedding flowers. To us at Pick Me this is the fun part! Floral fashions and trends have come a long way. The possibilities these days are pretty much endless! From small individually wired flower posies to giant flower walls!

So, I put it to you, are you faking it?

No, I'm not asking what you get There are many reasons for and against using artificial flowers. They last longer, you can hand them down to family members or give as gifts.

One reason we normally suggest for couples to use artificial is when it comes to the younger members of the bridal party, those adorable flower girls and handsome page boys.

Why you ask? Well, kids will be kids! Unlike some of us, being careful with wedding flowers doesn’t come high on their list of priorities. Fresh flowers bruise if they’re thrown about, artificial don’t. Some real flowers are skin and stomach irritants if ingested, artificial aren’t.

(We should point out, at this point, that we don’t advise anyone under the age of three be given real or artificial flowers due to the potential choking hazard)

So what’s it going to cost?

When it comes to cost, we here at Pick Me understand that the majority of us are constantly on a budget. Whatever your budget, there are things we can do to make your wedding flowers look beautiful! One thing most brides we talk to who want artificial flowers don’t realise is the cost implications of high quality silk flowers. They can be more pricey than fresh due to their longevity.

It’s like most things - you get what you pay for. For those beautiful, realistic artificial flowers you do need to pay a little more than if you wanted a bouquet of the foam flowers, but this is something to discuss with your florist. Tell us your budget and make us do the brain work of fitting your requirements into it! After all, it's part of what you pay us for!

One thing to note, and we can’t stress this enough, be wary of those too good to be true deals which offer to do all your flowers for a small amount. You can run the risk of not getting the quality you expect which sadly we see all too often or in some cases not getting them at all!
