Supermarket sweep

You may or may not have seen that, shock horror, Lidl have jumped on the wedding band wagon and are offering wedding flowers. They're not the first supermarket and won't be the last we're sure. Love it or hate it we've been reading opinions from both sides and weirdly, we get it.

What we've got to say may not sit well with some but bare with us...

Weddings; the big expensive conundrum and very similar to the human body. Some are bigger than others. Size doesn't matter but it does bother us about our perception by others. Some are alternative and some just want to be the same as everyone else's.

When couples decide that Pick Me isn't the florist for them we're ok with that and these are the reasons why:

- we're not in everyone's price range - we're very proud of the skills we offer and the cost we've incurred learning these. (We've any ready written a blog on what goes into your wedding day)

- we're not everyone's cup of tea - some people don't like tea.

-some people really don't give a badgers butt about flowers.

Do we condemn these people to a fiery pit of hell?!...no.

For some people using skilled professionals (and that is what good florists are) aren't within their price range. Does this mean they aren't entitled to have flowers on their wedding day? No.

For some people flowers just aren't that important and they want to spend their hard earned money on things that matter to them. Maybe candy carts are the be all and end all. That's ok.

Some people like the whole DIY (I should point out some florists will help you with this).

Are we happy that yet again out profession is being undermined by the illusion that what we do is easy? No of course not, but instead of spending energy in becoming a fiery ball of rage we aknowledge that people buying flowers in this manor we're never our clients to begin with. Just like that fancy venue or designer dress, florists to some are a luxury and we're honoured by every couple who choses to use us.

Whatever your choices do what works for you and what makes you happy. Of course if you do want to talk to a professional...cough cough.

Pick Me x

First off, as a Cardiff based wedding florist we need to say a MASSIVE sorry! We are terrible for keeping up to date with blogs! However,...
