Ice in February
Last month I had the honour of being part of someones special day. It was an intimate occasion shared with their family in the wonderful setting of Ely in Cambridge.
The brief I was given was 'light blue'. The brides favourite flowers we're Carnations. Sometimes that's all we get..and sometimes that's all we need! Time to get creating.. Blues and whites instantly made me think of frost and ice catching in the sunlight. February is still winter when the air is crisp but the sun is bright! We kept the colours very light, and carried that through into other elements of the arrangements such as flower choice and dried materials.
Bell jars with lights and frosted shards were placed on the table. Not only did this help lift the lighting but offered interest and elegance. Fairy lights and candles are our go to thing when people want to create an air of magic without the cost!
A traditional buttonholes of a white carnation against blue suits is given a modern and icy twist with this grey/green foliage (Populus).
A bridal bouquet of Carnations, Ranunculus, Delphiniums and dried materials offered a light flowing bouquet. The use of green and blue helped to lift the flowers from the dress.
And finished off with an adorable flower girl holding a small poesy wrapped with blue ribbon to match her dress...and those sparkly shoes!!
Fancy yourself an Ice Queen or maybe something a little warmer? Get in touch to discuss any ideas you may have about your special day and let us help bring it to life!
